Cross-border delivery

Sweden–India delivery: agree the work before the location.

A practical way to discuss location, technical ownership and collaboration across the two countries.

A cross-border delivery model works best when it follows the project’s needs. Start with the activities, the information they require and the decisions they depend on. Then agree where the work can happen and how the teams will collaborate.

Identify work that needs customer proximity

Some activities depend on a physical product, customer equipment or frequent in-person decisions. Others can use approved remote environments. Separate those activities instead of assuming that an entire project must use one location.

Define a work package that can be reviewed

Specify the input, output and acceptance criteria for the activities proposed for India delivery. The scope should be clear enough to review progress and identify blocked work. Keep technical decisions with named owners rather than relying on location alone.

Agree access and information handling

Confirm the customer-approved repositories, environments and data arrangements before sharing project material. Discuss any restrictions on location or access with the customer. The delivery plan must reflect those decisions, alongside the contracting entity and responsibilities.

Use overlap for decisions

Agree a working overlap, review cadence and escalation contact. Use shared documentation for routine updates so meeting time can focus on decisions, demonstrations and risks. Allow for local holidays and customer availability in the plan.

Begin with a bounded engagement

A specialist assignment or a defined work package gives both teams a practical way to establish the working relationship. Review communication, technical quality and handover before expanding. Hykmann can discuss consulting, project and recurring workstream arrangements around those needs.
